“Public Art in the City” - Saloua Raouda Choucair and Nayla Romanos Iliya
In its continuous support to Culture and Art, Banque BEMO launched “BEMO virtual art club” (Bvac). Since March 27th 2020, several themes revolving around the world of cinema, art, wine, music, literature and cooking have been discussed in groups of 20 to 25 persons, with the presence of experts, on the platform “Zoom”. Bvac featured “Public Art in the City”, shedding light on the works of Lebanese women artists: Saloua Raouda Choucair, Lebanese painter and modern sculptor inspired by the future, who was represented by her daughter Hala Choucair artist and director of Saloua Raouda Choucair Foundation, keeping her mother’s legacy alive. As well as Nayla Romanos Iliya, contemporary sculptor inspired by the past, who presented her latest and biggest artwork which took over a year of preparation and was unveiled (virtually) in March 2020. This artwork was inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divina Comedia. The session was moderated by Joumana Rizk-Yarak, the founder and managing partner of MIRROS, communication and media specialist.
