"Essentials for Long-Term Success of Family Businesses" Conference

On Friday November 2nd 2018, Banque BEMO held a conference on the “Essentials for Long-Term Success of Family Businesses” with special guest and keynote speaker, Mr. Georges Hatem – CEO of CDS Management Consulting to esteemed guests and clients at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Dr. Riad Obegi – Chairman of the Board introduced the conference by stating that “family businesses are the most common form of businesses” and highlighting later on that the importance of family businesses lies in their diversity, giving them the means to sustain and progress. Finally, Dr. Obegi emphasized on the resilience of family businesses, as he believes that “families that have a common business are more resilient than families that do not”.

On the other hand, in his presentation, Mr. Georges Hatem covered the importance of family businesses and their contribution to the global economy, both in terms of GDP and employment. He then introduced the process that, in his opinion, should be followed, at both the family and the corporate levels, by any family business that wishes to sustain itself and maintain success. The last part of the presentation focused on the significant implications of this process at the personal level of each family member involved.
